I went to Laos while I was in Southeast Asia. It wasn’t even on my radar when I was planning the trip, but I found myself there and loved it, spending more time than I expected. I found it to be a bit of an outlier among the other countries there because it doesn’t have any major well known sites and it’s very poor, but is still fairly well traveled.
I started in the north by taking a boat from Thailand down the Mekong river to Luang Prabang. From there I went north to a few small towns, and then made my way south to the Cambodian border.
