It’s easy to dismiss the US Southwest National Parks as just a bunch of slightly different rocks, but they each have a really different feel to them. Bryce is small and weird, Zion is lush and a blast, Canyonlands is massive, Capitol Reef feels like a weird little oasis (the Mormons planted fruit orchards there a long time ago so you can camp among blooming cherry trees!), Arches feels extraterrestrial, and the Grand Canyon is…well, the Grand Canyon. I went in late March of 2016 (off season and a little chilly, but relatively empty in exchange!) and I highly recommend it.
